Our history
We are specialists in the insurance industry in the Latin American and Caribbean markets and have a long history. Our founder and CEO, Michael Carricarte, and his family have been dedicated to creating value in the industry for over 30 years:
Michael and his family create Amedex and become the first to offer international major medical insurance in Latin America.
1986
Bupa acquires Amedex, which, along with its medical network, USA Medical Services, served over 1 million clients in 42 countries in the region.
2005
Michael C. is appointed President of the International Division of Private Client Major Medical Insurance at Pan-American Life Insurance. Under his leadership, they become the first to register and offer international medical insurance in 12 countries.
2010
First to launch a 100% digital term life insurance with simplified evaluation in Latin America.
2022

Having created three successful companies and led companies such as Amedex, USA Medical Services, BUPA, Pan-American Life Insurance Group, Michael has been a pioneer in insurance industry innovation in Latin America since 1986.

Andrew has experience as an operator of technology companies, having founded and led 3 successful ventures from scratch. He has been recognized for his work on various technology patents in the US and EU, as well as his pioneering work in healthcare software.

He is an expert in financial services in the insurance industry. He has assisted clients with mergers and acquisitions, debt offerings, IPOs, and other transactions at EY (25 years) and KPMG (6 years).
Chief Underwriting Officer

He is a professional with extensive experience in the insurance industry, specializing in claims and risk evaluation, in companies such as Amedex, Bupa, Pan-American Life, MetLife, Manhattan Life, and National Western Life.
Chief Growth Officer

Experience in the insurance industry at international insurers such as AXA and Bupa. Specialist in the development of market growth strategies in Mexico and Latin America, focusing on customer and partner-centric growth.
Chief Legal Officer

We have been registered in the United States since 2019 (Jurisdiction: Puerto Rico) and are legally authorized as an international insurer (Class 5 license), which allows us to sell to residents of LATAM and the Caribbean, complying with the standards and practices of insurers in the United States and our regulator, which belongs to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

Our reinsurers guarantee each issued policy, the payment of the benefit for the entire contracted term, and approve and supervise our underwriting process.
Additionally, AM Best, one of the leading global insurance credit rating agencies, has assigned a Financial Strength Rating of B++ (Good) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of “bbb” (Good) to Olé Insurance Group Corp I.I. (Olé Insurance) (San Juan, Puerto Rico). The outlook assigned to these credit ratings is stable.
